Text language becoming normal language

I think it is funny how when we text we use shortcuts for words. For example, LOL, OMG etc.... Now these phrases have become common use in talking with people. It is not rare to be talking with someone and say OMG (oh my god). I dont think it is a matter of people becoming more lazy and not wanting to say the entire word. It is a mixing of languages. Now there is a song by will.i.am and usher that is titled OMG. It will be fun to see how other phrases become incorporated into normal talk.

  1. It is definitely slang now. I'm guilty of uttering "WTF" in a moment of confusion or saying "BRB" when I walk out of a room, even to people who have no idea what the acronym means. It's like saying "dude" or throwing "-izzle" on a word (which thankfully hasn't lasted as long as many other phases). Because of the prevalence of technology in our lives, we're used to thinking with these acronyms, and that's not going to change anytime soon.
