The Academy Awards are kinda boring...
Out of all the awards shows I think the Academy Awards are the most boring. I like movies and I think it is great that they are recognized. However, I dont care to watch all of the people associated with the winning movies give all their thanks. I do like to watch the critiques of everyones outfits. I dont think I am the only person who prefers this part of the Academy Awards. There are numerous amounts of tv shows that their specific purpose is to critique what all the attendees are wearing. I think it is somewhat funny that people are winning these prestigious awards and recognition but we are more interested in how they look and what they are wearing.

What matters in the end, though, isn't what they were wearing but who won, because years down the road we'll still be hearing, "Academy Award winner for best actress, Sandra Bullock!" or "The Hurt Locker, winner of six Academy Awards including Best Picture..." Very few people care about the speeches, and admittedly a few more care about the dresses, but nearly everyone wants to know who wins.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the reason we are more concerned with discussing what people are wearing is because, like you said, the speeches and technicalities are boring. So the gossip about the latest fashion do's and dont's might be just to pass the time. I agree with what Lyndsey said, in the end, all that we really care about is who wins.
ReplyDeleteAnother thought I had was that maybe the outfit gossip is to help get more viewers to watch the academy awards. That way they can better participate (or understand) the gossip that is later discussed. Perhaps its simply a way of reaching a larger audience by giving them incentive to watch, if only for that reason.
